“Why this, Why now?”
We are attempting to provide people on a local level with a tool to naturally return and maintain the CO2 content of the atmosphere back to the level it was prior to the industrial revolution. To begin this process, zero tolerance for carbon positive emissions should be started now for any new businesses. Carbon neutral fuels such as Biodiesel, Biogasoline, Biojetfuel and biomass based Syngas and methanol are available now and their use should be made mandatory now. Existing users of underground fossil fuels such as oil, coal, or natural gas should be required to purchase carbon neutral biofuels and they should be tasked with eliminating at least 40% of their fossil fuel use inside the next 10 years. A combination of these and many other efforts will begin to reverse the accumulation of carbon in the atmosphere within the next 10 years. Prior to incorporating as a nonprofit, we attempted, as a private corporation, to seek funding in the form of loans from various banks and venture capital sources. 100% of these loan sources demanded that we must agree to accept the industrial waste CO2 from businesses that burn fossil oil, coal or natural gas. Most of the venture capitalists also demanded that they be provided seats on our board, that we pay them above market interest rates in returns and that we pay them a large percentage of our profits indefinitely. Both the banks and the venture capitalists stated that these demands would ensure that we followed “their ideas” of the most secure methods of operation for us to ensure that we would be able repay the loans for startup and construction costs. When we countered that cooperating with carbon positive polluting businesses would be the least beneficial thing we could do to the environment, the normal response was that their main concern right now was to seek the most secure method to ensure the return of their investment and to ensure the highest returns for the companies shareholders in the future. A quick glance at all of the current leading startup carbon neutral liquid fuel producers will show that the majority of their board members and upper management staff are all ex-big oil or coal employees and ex federal financial relief fund managers . We realized that to try to come up the ranks through normal channels of seeking funding would inevitably lead to our loss of corporate control to big oil and coal interests. Those are the reasons we decided to form as a non-profit. As a nonprofit we can still accept loans from banks and venture capitalist, but they both need to understand that the interest charged must be at or below market value, that we will not compromise our operational oaths and we will not accept terms that reduce our capability to control our own company. That is why we have decided to primarily seek grass roots funding from you and why we so critically need your donations and sponsorships to help us secure startup funding to design and construct our first functioning prototypes.
ATP Energies is seeking $9 million+ to build its first experimental 10 acre prototype farm. Virtually all environmental scientists agree that to avoid imminent catastrophic results from the effects of global warming, a 40% worldwide reduction of carbon positive greenhouse gas emissions must be achieved within the next 10 years and 95% within the next 50 years. The latest proposed plan from the federal government is to open up drilling for more underground fossil fuels and only reduce existing emissions by 17% in the next ten years.
Clean Energy and Security Act vs. Mitigation of Global Warming
The bulk of the 100’s of billions of dollars of available federal funding and subsidies will be given to big fossil oil, coal and natural gas corporations for clean energy research aimed at developing unsustainable technologies like “clean coal” and incorporating conservation methods like “Cap & Trade” whose efficiency and effectiveness can easily be politically manipulated. In the end, these types of technologies and methods would only slightly reduce the emissions of the status quo energy providers and would greatly increase energy prices to the consumer. One more time, the largest amounts of available funding are being given to the worst violators that are responsible for causing the problem in the first place. This train of thought seems eerily similar to the continued rewarding of corporations that originally caused the problem like the “too big to fail” banks and insurance companies. Now we’re well on our way to adding the” too big to fail” fossil oil, coal and natural gas companies to this list. One more time the weakest and most vulnerable among us will increasingly bear the cost of the final solution and will suffer the consequences of our delay while those corporations that continue to cause the problem will reap huge profits while receiving extra income in the form of 100s of billions of dollars of subsidies from the government.
If they are lucky, any new startup, 2nd generation, truly clean energy providers that have been in existence for less than 3 years that refuse to be tied to big corporate fossil oil, coal or natural gas, will have access to only a few thousands of dollars in federal, state and local government grants. ATP Energies is one of those new startups and we are currently seeking millions in funds in the form of donations from private individuals and grants from private foundations and sponsorships from private corporations.
We are seeking $9 million to start up. Over $1 billion is spent every day importing fossil fuels. How important is the atmosphere of this planet to you? If we all fail our atmosphere what is your backup plan? Will you be one of the rare few who take the effort of a few hours to locate, read and interpret the available unbiased scientifically acquired data and discover for yourself what is really happening to this planets atmosphere? Are you courageous enough to act to slow and reverse the trend? Or will you continue to relying on what your friends and televised “talking heads” are telling you is happening? Off the top of your head and without assistance, can you answer any of these simple questions?
What is the approximate volume of 1 ton of liquid or solid fossil fuel? How many tons of CO2 will be generated by burning that 1 ton of fossil fuel? What is the approximate volume of 1 ton of CO2?
Approximately, how many billions of tons of CO2 does mankind emit into the atmosphere each year?
Minus all of the billions of tons of CO2 pumped into the air by mankind each year, approximately, how much CO2 does the earth, on its own, naturally emit into its atmosphere each year?
Approximately, what is the maximum amount of atmospheric CO2 that the earth can naturally absorb each year and how many years would it be before the oceans reached the maximum allowable saturation point for CO2 in salt water?
What are the top 2 most common “greenhouse” gases?
What are the top 5 man-made greenhouse gas producing activities?
What chemical compound is natural gas?
How much more solar heat will natural gas absorb than CO2?
Minus the earths natural emissions, in the last 100 years, how many trillion tons of CO2 and Methane has Mankind caused to be emitted into the atmosphere?
When motivated, most people can find unbiased qualified answers from reputable sources to these questions within 90 minutes when searching university research papers online. If you cannot answer these simple questions unaided then you are unable to speak intelligently concerning whether or not global warming is a real phenomenon. Can the person you are trusting to tell you what’s happening with global warming answer any of the basic questions listed above? Ask them. Most of our current media is far more saturated with messages from big fossil oil and coal corporations than any information that is being provided from unbiased reputable educational institutions. Notice that the media focus right now is to drill and dig for more oil and coal. The reasons given are to stop giving our money to the terrorists, help bring our troops home. Think what good drilling for more oil can do. Those are compelling arguments but there is never a mention of what destruction all that extra CO2 from the oil and coal will do to accelerate Global Warming. Do your own research to find the answers to the basic questions listed above and come to your own conclusions about what is actually taking place. Will you then be willing to calmly voice your opinion even if uninformed members of your friends and family may disagree with you and they may tease and ridicule you because you believe something different than they have heard from their favorite news channel? Will you then be willing to voice your opinion even when it is obvious that those who are disagreeing with you have all failed to take the effort to properly research what they are saying they believe? Or will you continue to stay silent so you don’t take the slightest risk of ever having even a slightly different opinion from your friends, family and community?
Fossil Oil and Coal companies are spending 100s of millions of dollars in marketing every month to convince you that we have many decades if not at least a hundred years to continue pumping 100s of billions of tons of new CO2 emissions from burning their products into the atmosphere before we might ever have to think about taking any efforts to begin reducing fossil fuel emissions. They say they’re spending millions working on research to reduce emissions in the future by putting all their billions of tons of emissions under pressures high enough to cause it to turn into a liquid, then pump those billions of tons of pressurized liquid deep underground into a specific type of porous rock for storage. How gullible do you need to be to believe that this method is reasonable, cost effective and sustainable? Do you really think they would ever spend any of their profit money to do this on an industry wide scale? They want you to believe they have everything under control and for you not to worry. Just keep letting them drill and dig and keep buying their product. They want you to believe that for now there’s no need to be concerned with continuing to pump more new CO2 into the air for the foreseeable future. As a matter of fact, they say, let’s drill and dig for more fossil oil and coal! What they really mean is, as long as fossil fuel profits continue to exceed clean energy profits, then they won’t spend the money to reduce emissions until they are forced to. And when they are forced to, then you will end up paying for the unsustainable methods used to reduce emissions by paying a cost hike in energy prices. In their minds, as long as they can continue to sell you a relatively inexpensive product that you as an average citizen aren’t going to do much about it no matter how much their emissions negatively affect the environment. Big fossil oil and coal believe that if a kilowatt of clean electricity costs even 1 cent more than a kilowatt of fossil fuel generated electricity that the average citizen will choose to buy the cheaper fossil fuel generated electricity no matter what damage is being caused to the environment. They know that as long as the average citizens’ daily personal life and pocketbook is not adversely affected by the increasing destruction of the global environment that most people will have no problem buying the cheaper fossil fuel generated electricity indefinitely.
If big oil and coal marketing specialists are right about us average folk, then our children and grandchildren are going to have to deal with unprecedented global scale natural, economic and human catastrophes. And its looking like they are right and that’s going to be the case. But, what the heck, I’ll probably be dead by the time it’s a “real problem”. It’s really our kids’ and grandkids’ problems right? Yeah, it’s a bummer that I emit 10 times more carbon positive CO2 than 95% of the people on the planet and that 75% of the people on this planet who will be affected by this live on less than $1 a day, but I need to keep every penny I make so my friends and neighbors that I interact with every day will see and approve that I have all the right clothes, cars, toys and house required to be properly identified as living the same “American dream” as they are . I’m already financially stretched to the limit to where I can barely pay my bills. Why should I give any more money for research that will not be sucked up by big oil or coal? I already paid my taxes. Let someone else send in a little bit of their hard earned money to fix the problem. Let the corporations who caused this problem fix it. Let the government who allowed this to happen and who is giving most of my tax money to the corporations who caused the problem fix it. And don’t tax me anymore than I’m already taxed to fix it. And don’t build your new alternative energy facilities in my back yard to fix it. And don’t take any jobs away from me and my fellow Americans who are working for the big carbon positive CO2 emitting fossil oil, coal, electrical, ethanol and cement companies to fix it. I know modern humans have only been around for about 200,000 years and I know that the last time the earth experienced a 400+ part per million level of CO2 in the air was over 600,000 years ago, but even though mankind has removed from underground and emitted over 1 trillion tons of CO2 into the atmosphere in the last 100 years, I still think this whole Global Warming thing is probably a panicked misinterpretation of a coincidental natural cyclical CO2 pattern that the earth regularly experiences.
Nice.
There is still a large conservative segment of our population that has no problem saying they truly feel this way. Most of them are in positions of minor power and influence within their own local communities and they are habitually distrustful of any authority outside of their community that they have little or no control over. The only way these people will change is when they see everyone else is paying 5 dollars a gallon for clean fuel while they are now having to pay 6 dollars for the old polluting stuff. Then there is the 1% of the American population that controls 95% of the wealth in the U.S. and have substantial power and influence on state and national levels. It took them 50 years and all of “their money” to build our current existing infrastructure concerning the location and types of our homes, power lines, gas pipes, water pipes, sewage pipes, roads, gas stations, malls, ect. They will forcefully and legally reject any new technology that does not perfectly fit and encourage the expansion of that existing structure. Most of them feel that where their wealth and investments are concerned, they could care less what happens to the environment. Unless you have more wealth than these 3 million people combined, you will never be allowed to tie into what they own to transmit your new technology to the remaining 99% of the people. A good example of this is when recently T. Boone Pickens committed to the purchase of over 600 wind turbines from GE to begin building a wind farm in north Texas. He did not take into consideration the amount he would eventually be required to pay to the owners of the existing power lines to transmit his electricity to the people who would buy his power and when he tried to go around the existing structure he was denied funding and permit to install his own power lines. If you want to buy a wind turbine give him a call. We at ATP Energies understand and are aware of these challenges. We have calculated their financial impact and are confident that our facilities technologies and products can easily adapt to fit or “drop into”” the existing infrastructures of our cities which are owned and controlled by this absolute 1% who will eventually demand that we “render unto Caesar”.
“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”
1 Timothy 6:10 KJV
“Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it possible for evil to triumph.”
Haile Selassie 4 Oct 1963
